Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation

Description:

The Parks and Recreation Department oversees thirty-six parks and tot-lot playgrounds, including Bronson Park and the Kalamazoo Farmer's Market on Bank Street.  They manage the protection of physical and natural assets in the City and provide recreation and leisure programs for youth, adults, senior citizens, and citizens with disabilities. All programs are open to anyone who wishes to participate, regardless of the challenges they face.  To see a detailed list of activities at each park, click here.

 

Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation will have lots of fun holiday activities this year! 

Halloween River Trail Walk/Trunk or Treat Trunk or Treat on the River Trail!  What better way to enjoy an autumn evening than at the Kalamazoo River Trail Walk.  Bring the whole family and enjoy an eventful time of treats, tricks, and maybe a few interesting tales.  So bring your costume and your courage and be ready Trunk or Treat at the River Trail!  The cost is $5 per family and includes refreshments, hay wagon rides, games, arts and crafts, the trail walk and trunk or treating.

Candy Cane Hunt/Santa's Workshop

Make this a family holiday tradition and join Parks and Recreation Staff for the 3rd annual Candy Cane Hunt in Bronson Park and Santa's Workshop held in the City Hall Atrium.  Downtown will be decorated in its entire holiday splendor so bring the family downtown and be part of the festive atmosphere as your children hunt for delightful tasty candy canes and create their own holiday decorations and gifts at Santa's Workshop.

 

Candy Hunt:

Who: Youth ages 3-8

Where:  Bronson Park

When: Saturday, December 5, 12pm - 2pm

Hunt Schedule:

Ages 3-4 - Registration at 12pm/hunt at 12:30 **all children must be accompanied by an adult

Agest 5-6 - Registration at 12:45pm/hunt at 1pm

Agest 7-8 - Registration at 1:15pm/hunt at 1:30pm

Santa's Workshop:

Who: All ages

Where: City Hall Atrium 241 South Street

When: Saturday, December 5

Session 1 - 11am-12:30pm

Session 2 - 12:45pm-2pm

Cost: $5 per person per session
