    Features over 80 examples of "tall tale" postcards from around the United States, which demonstrate a unique form of popular humor dating back to the early 20th century. Other items in the exhibit include taxidermy specimens, newspaper cartoons, and magazine covers, all of which help tell the story of the tall tale postcard.

    Who Am I Exhibition explores two of these methods. LUCY: The Story of Human Origins, which explores the use of anthropologic findings and fossil casts and The Genographic Project Exhibition that explores the use of genetic/DNA scientific techniques in understanding the origins of humankind. And Genographic Project is a real-time research effort that uses DNA as a study tool to map how humankind populated the planet. 

    The Project is open to members of the public to participate through purchasing a public participation kit from the Charles H. Wright Museum.

    Participants can also choose to donate their genetic results to the expanding database on the Genographic Web site (www.nationalgeographic.com/genographic).

    Car Museum Offers Model T Ford Driving Classes
    Learn to Drive the “Everyman’s Car” - Old School!

    This course will teach the skills required to drive any of the 15,000,000 Ford Model Ts built between 1908 and 1927 including:

    • Use of spark and throttle control levers
    • Coordination of hand and foot controls
    • Proper shifting techniques
    • Stopping the vehicle
    • Correct use of the Neutral / Brake lever
    • Reversing the vehicle
    • And of course, touring the Gilmore Car Museum collection

    After your successful Road Test in an Authentic Model T you will be presented with a certificate of completion.

    Classes will be offered on:

    Saturday July 25, 2010
    Morning Class – 9:30am – 12:00pm
    Afternoon Class – 1:00pm – 2:30pm

    Class size is very limited so reservations are required. Cost is $95 per student, $75 for Museum members (annual membership is $35) and can be pre paid.

    NOTE: Participants must be at least 16 years of age with a valid driver’s license at time of class.

The History of Stock Car Racing" Showcasing two dozen vehicles from some of the most iconic names in Stock Car racing history, including; Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Jimmy Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Johnny Benson, Jr., Ned Jarrett, Randy Sweet, Gail Cobb, Buddy Stewart, and Duane Knoll. Cars and memorabilia from the 1930s to present even the Days of Thunder movie car driven by Tom Cruise.
